Improving access to TMS during pregnancy

The CALM-TMS program pays for a full course of TMS for pregnant patients in California whose insurance will not cover it. It can also help with rides, childcare, and other costs that make treatment hard to reach.

1 stepfor you: find a California TMS clinic. They apply for you.

Only TMS clinics can apply for CALM-TMS.

You cannot apply on your own, and we are not able to accept applications from patients or family members. Here is the good news. Your clinic does the paperwork for you. Your first step is to find a TMS clinic in California that is a member of the Clinical TMS Society.

“Hi, I am pregnant and I want to learn if TMS is right for me. My insurance does not cover it. Can your clinic apply to the FACTMS CALM-TMS program for me?”

Copies a short message you can use when you call a clinic.

Questions we hear a lot

Can I apply for CALM-TMS myself?

No. Only TMS clinics can apply. Start by finding a California TMS clinic and ask them about CALM-TMS.

Will the money be sent to me?

No. FACTMS pays the clinic directly. This keeps the process simple and safe for everyone.

Is TMS safe during pregnancy?

TMS does not use medicine, so no drug goes into your body. Research on TMS during pregnancy is growing. Your doctor can talk with you about the benefits and risks for you and your baby. Learn more about TMS.

What if my clinic is not a Clinical TMS Society member?

CALM-TMS can only work with member clinics. You can ask your clinic about joining, or find a member clinic near you.

I live outside California. Can I still get help?

CALM-TMS is only for California right now. Your clinic may be able to apply to our Patient Assistance Fund instead.

Is my personal information shared?

Clinics share treatment results with FACTMS with names and personal details removed. This helps us learn how TMS helps during pregnancy.
